How to make your home glamorous?

Recently I was asked on Instagram account to tell how to create a glamorous interior. Indeed, I‘ve never written about it (well, with an exception of one post about French glamour in Sweden), thus that‘s high time I did it!

It‘s very difficult for me to explain glamorous style in brief and accurate way, as there‘s so little information about it. I‘ve analyzed different interiors on my own and I would say it‘s the synonym of a luxury only perhaps a bit simpler. I‘d also add the word “elegance“. Usually glamour interiors are simply eclectic – classics, modern classics and even modernity combine here. I‘ve seen that glamour style is divided into rustic glamour, modern glamour, Hollywood glamour and traditional glamour. I‘m not sure which glamours I‘m going to touch here but there‘re some trends which are more or less characteristic to each of those interiors.

In some cases glamour interior looks completely feminin to me even though rather “masculin“ and cold interiors also appear. Everything depends on a relation between the colours and chosen details which I‘m going to talk about below.

1. Metal

Metal surfaces is an inherent part of a glamour style. It can be a table with metal legs, a mirror with metal frame or metal accessories. Shiny metal surfaces look luxurious, bring gloss to the space, therefore, fewer mirror surfaces which are the second component part of glamour are needed.

2. Mirrors

You‘ll not be mistaken if you put up one or another piece of furniture of mirror surface. Most usually it‘s night tables in a bedroom or a console guestroom. By the way, hanging mirrors are also compulsory. Usually they have sophisticated frames (metal is also used here), or are faceted or engraved.

Mirrors which‘re divided as if into smaller rhombus are loved very much. Probably you‘ve seen such ones in classical style interiors – in a glamour interior they also look perfect.

3. Velvet

Velvet looks completely luxurious and shines from itself. I‘ve written about velvet in an interior earlier. If you don‘t like the qualities of this fabric but want to bring gloss please choose velvet pillows or curtains.

4. Soft furniture

If you want to sit down when you see a sofa – that‘s a very good sign. Chesterfield style sofas and beds are liked very much. It‘s not possible to do without armchairs and settees.

Even walls are covered with soft fabrics in the bedrooms! The more tenderness the better.

5. Pillows, carpets and curtains

If you at least want to get closer to glamour use more pillows! Don‘t forget a soft and cozy carpet and freely shooting curtain, throw over a plaid on the bed or on the sofa and soon you‘ll notice that the space became softer.

6. Lamps

Lamps are inherent glamour interior part. Standing lamps are very much likable (on consoles, commodes and wooden tables) as well as bras. Hanging classical style chandeliers are used widely.

In general, when you‘re choosing illuminators for a glamour style I‘d offer you to pay attention to classical or modern-classical lamps. If it‘s standing lamp or bra – a lamp shade should be made of textile or of metal.

7. Colours

As I‘ve noticed glamorous interior can be either very light or very dark. The colours grey, purple or brown are likable. The gloss of gold (little) or silver is also liked. Of course, you can also find other colours but if you choose the previously mentioned colours you‘ll completely not be mistaken.

8. Natural flowers

I think we need no comments here. Natural flowers is an inherent part of a cozy interior and a large quantity of white flowers looks luxurious and fits perfect to a glamour style interior.

9. Pictures

It‘s loved to decorate walls with the works of art even though the compositions of smaller format pictures also appear.

10. Patterns

If I had to distinguish the used patterns I‘d pay my attention to a damask pattern and hexagons. Depending on what kind of interior that is most usually one kind or another kind is used (but not both of them together).
