Piero Fornasetti – an Italian painter, sculptor, interior decorator and engraver who created about 13000 art works (1913-1988). Fornasetti is considered one of the most creative and talented XX-age-creators. The artist created in such a way that each his work is recognizable from a peculiar script, detail and uniqueness. He created a separate magical world…
Fornasetti is mostly recognized because of his works where a woman face is dominating. Overall, he has created over 500 different woman’s portraits, 350 of which are of an opera singer LinaCavalieri and he himself doesn’t know why this idea was born. He simply started creating and couldn’t stop!
Other features of his art are the use of the colors black and white, the sun and the time. Nowadays that’s usual to see the art of the artist on various interior accessories such as illuminators, pieces of furniture, crockery, candlesticks (just look how many different candlesticks were created), tables and also on the wallpapers (Cole and Son).
I’ve read some interviews of him and will notice some interesting facts about his interesting and controversial personality. It’s so unusual for us but for artists that’s nothing astonishing - Fornasetti was expelled from the Art Academy because, according to him, they did not teach what he wanted to be taught – to paint from a real life, to paint a naked body. According to Fornasetti, if you are able to paint a naked body, you can project everything – a car or a building – anything. An artist thought that a good-design-products shouldn’t be expensive and addressed only to elite, he wanted all the things to be of high quality, however, not expensive.
His products are eternal, never getting out of the trend, not fitting into time frames and infinitely original and expressive. I’ve selected some examples, so please get to know this artist’s art closer (and just a very small part of works).
